The only effect that I've personally discovered from having had my liver lacerated a few years ago is that now I seen to digest, at least some things, if not most or all things, more slowly. I discovered that I digest alcohol more slowly. Maybe it has to do with the quantity of alcohol I had consumed, I don't really know. And it seems that I MAY not be digesting caffeine at the same rate either. I'm still experimenting with caffeine digestion right now. Granted, the alcohol digestion may or may not be tied to the brain injury I sustained from getting blown up, but thats the input I can offer

The best way to find out is to go to your health care professional. Get your medical records from the hospital first, then make an appointment with your doctor and from there, they can explain to you exactly what happened.I didn't know how badly injuried I was until after I went and saw my doctor and obtained my medical reports. I now know the pain I feel isn't all in my head as some people have said. It is completely normal. And if they do not give a good enough answer, second opinions are always great!Best of luck.
