There a few possibilities as to what a lump in the elbow crease can mean. These are outlined below, together with a short explanation as to what each is, but as always it is important that for any medical condition to seek the advice of a qualified medical professional.

Ganglion Cyst

Ganglion Cysts are commonly found on the inside of the elbow, second only to the hands and wrists. This is because muscle tissues in the area of the joints can become inflamed through strains, sprains or repeatedly being injured, typically while playing sports. They are benign painless lumps, packed with thick fluid and will often disappear as quickly as they came.

Synovial Cyst

A Synovial Cysts is again a fluid-filled sack, not usually found on the elbow but can be. And although the cause for this type of cyst is unknown it is often linked to Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis. These lumps can be painful depending on the area where they are located and how big they are.

Lipoma

There are many types of Lipoma and they are rarely malignant (and the debate over whether those that have been found to be cancerous are actually Lipomas are still ongoing) the most common type; subcutaneous lipoma is a non-cancerous tumor made of body fat.

Swollen Lymph Node

These wondrous little organs are found throughout the entire body and their function is to remove all viruses, dead tissues and dead bacteria from the body. When there is an infection a lymph node will usually catch it, often resulting in a lump or rather swollen lymph nodes.
