Sore throat is common and generally, to treat it effectively, honey is the best. This is due to the strong antibacterial effects that accelerate recovery and reduce the discomforts in the throat.

Hi
Peggy! I normally drink lots of hot water. However, if this doesn’t work you
can add some lime juice and honey to it! Severe cases will require you to use a
spray and these are usually sold over the counter. Hope this helps and do get
well very soon.

Almost everyone in their lives has experienced sore throat through its
symptoms like scratching, burning, itching, especially if they’re
accompanied by other symptoms of a cold or a more serious virus. My father catches it many times per year. So, I have some remedies. Hope it useful for you.

Salt water is reckoned as one of the simplest and most effective home remedies for sore throat, which has been used for a long time.

Drink tea or warm lemon water mixed with honey is a time-honored way to soothe a sore throat.

Peppermint is also a great companion to choose.

A mixture of one teaspoon of lemon juice and one cup of water will be a good idea.

A mixture of ½ cup tomato juice and ½ cup of hot water, plus 10 drops
hot pepper sauce will be a temporary remedy to relieve sore throat.

My father tried all and they're very effective.

You should try.

I am not medically qualified but have just had a very soar throat.  After trying all the old remedies saline gargle/ throat lozenges etc etc I found a different solution which worked for me.

Most large supermarkets Tesco, Waitrose etc sell herb teas, buy a box of liquorice  herb tea bags.   I made a large pot of liquorice herb tea using one tea bag.  I then allowed it to cool for an hour or so.  I found that sipping and or gargling with this tea (no sugar or milk) really calmed down the soar throat.  I didn't replace my normal drinks but merely used the liquorice tea as something to sip, even in the night.  There is some evidence for liquorice's efficacy in this case see  this page on Wikipedia:  en.wikipedia.org
