It could be. My father has leukemia and has had a terrible cough for several months. The doctors perscibed course after course of antibiotics which did nothing. Turns out the coughing is a symptom of the disease. My advice? See another doctor and get a second opinion.

COPD is he still smoking .High WBC means infection ,when the baby wbc cells are high this could mean leukemia highly unlikely Sounds like he has a resp infection did the doc put him on neb tx and an antibiotic .May just be a way of life at his age due to the smoking (which I am a smoker) but encourage deep coughing and getting that stuff up if the sputum is colored maybe a bacteria infetion which if not going away may need a different antibiotic .No color usually means viral not much you can do . Keep an eye on his temp which means infection but it is cold and flu season if his resp is compromised already get the  flu pneumothrax shots .with his heart condition not something to mess with if you can't breath your heart has to work harder .shortness of breath is a reason to go to the hospital if this should happen ,because a sign of congestive heart failure is lungs filling up with fluid and swelling in areas of the body that shouldn't be .also a cold could turn into pneumonia if not getting better check with your doc  S/S congestive heart failure is coughing up pink forthy liquid , please becareful

Blood pressure medicine gives you a cough too.  I finally quit taking it and it went away.

My dad had leukemia for 8 years and died of an aorta aneurysm instead.   It was sudden
and he died quickly.  We prayed that he would be healed but it was not in the Lord's plan.
He surrender his life completely before he died although he said he was saved before.
