People don't generally die from Crohn's, but instead can die from complications that are caused by the disease. If you have been diagnosed with this condition then you probably already know that there is no known cure. One of the most important things you need to know when you have been diagnosed with a condition like this is that the disease itself will not kill you, but it can put you in horrible pain. Your doctors will of course be able to help you with the pain that can be caused but that's about all that can be done at present.

Your doctor will give you plenty of advice in relation to you and your condition, and you must remember that the doctor will always have your best interests at heart. Once your doctor has gone about putting your disease into remission, then everything else is down to you. There are some things I will outline below which will benefit you if you implement them into your daily life.

One thing to do is get a little exercise in your lifestyle. Don't try and do too much, but perhaps some jogging and long walks will do you good. You also need to develop your own lifestyle based around the level of exercise you want to do, a strong mental state of mind and of course a great and highly nutritious diet that will keep your body in the best condition possible. You should try and keep stress down to a minimum too, so you can try a few different things like meditation to help make your life a little easier.

If you have any more concerns then you should try and join a support group, or simply just talk to your doctor about your concerns. Both of these options will give you support and advice that you can rely on to try and reduce the amount of impact that the disease has on your life.

Obviously none of these people really know the dangers of Crohn's Disease. I Found out last year that I have Crohn's Disease. I almost died from it. Honestly I have had it for years but never knew. So there for mine went untreated and got so bad that over a foot of my intestine was barely even there. So because of that I had over 2 leters of puss in my abdomen. There for the infection almost took my life. I spent almost a month in the ICU then a few more weeks recovering on a different floor. So if you go untreated YES you can die, but with the knowledge of having this disease makes you more aware of what is going on with your body, so you can take care of your self better. So just see your doctor regularly and take care of your body. You will be fine. Honestly though no one on here is a doctor and they can only give you advice but the only person you should listen to is your doctor... NO ONE ELSE!!!

Yes you can depending on how serious and left untreated. There are even people who had to get a blood transfusion because of internal bleeding. So as the person above said yes it can be serious and listen to your doctor. Crohnes is to be taken seriously. For those suffering I found a great book by sherry Brescia called "Great Taste No Pain". It is awesome and has really helped me with proper food combinations for managing crohnes disease. This book has been a blessing.

Yes you can die from Crohn's. I was diagnosed in May of 2007. I went from 135 pounds to 96 pounds in less than four months. I couldn't keep any nutrition or calories in my body. Although with modern medicine and knowledge about the disease it is less likely to die, it is still a possiblity and anyone who says otherwise is ignorant.

Absolutely!  I was hospitalized due to severe rectal bleeding for days.  Some doctors gave up on me but I fought hard and by the grace of God I came out two weeks later.  Proper management by a caring Gastroenterologist will help you survive.  I have not had that yet so I'm presently seeking medical treatment abroad.
