Yes an ear infection can cause dizziness, as the fluid in your inner ear is what helps to provide balance. So if swelling has caused pressure on that part of the ear it can cause problems with balance, causing dizziness.

I had an ear infection about 2 weeks..then as everything seem to be clearing up I was struck with this sway-like feeling and this has been going on for almost 7 weeks. I was at the dr today and she told me the ear was still dull and she could see a little bit of fluid. I'm still nervous about this feeling though. It's really interupting my daily life! I do notice though when I'm driving or being driven the symptoms are gone but it's when I'm still or standing that they're the worst. Anyone else have this last this long?

I currently have an ear infection causing slight vertigo, but when I was younger I had a viral infection which left me with vertigo for a little over a year. If you are still having problems after finishing your medication you should see your physician again as the infection may still be present. I understand vertigo is a frightening sensation, but most causes of it are treatable and, with proper treatment, very few of those causes are particularly dangerous to your long term health.

If the cause is viral you may be in for a longer duration of dealing with vertigo, but various drugs can help manage the symptoms.

Yes your equal librium is in your inner ear and if it get to much fluid or throw off, it can cause dizziness. Motion sickness pills can help with it. They can be bought over the counter at any store.

hope you feel better.

p.s. The pills wont fix the infection!
