If you spend too much time in a hot shower your body heats up and the blood vessels in the skin dilate to try to get rid of the excess heat. This causes your blood pressure to go down slightly and you can feel dizzy or even faint.

The answer is to limit your time in hot showers, but don't forget to wash behind your ears.

Thanks for your answer. You were the only person that made sense to why i would get dizzy and blackout in the shower.

I think that toast is right but you do need to be careful about falling. Some meds when you get to hot can do this too

Summer's right. I forgot to add when you feel this coming on, sit down. It will pass in a minute.

This happened to me about 4 minutes ago.
I was in the shower putting conditioner on my hair when I started to feel tired and drained so I got out and I had to lie down on the floor I was so out of energy my vision was blurry and the border of my vision had white stars.
Thanks for explaining how this happened its good to know I'm normal.

I just got out of the shower a few mins ago and came to google it.  I was feeling a tad dizzy, then I closed my eyes to wash my face (15 mins into my shower) and when I tried to open my eyes again all I could see was pitch black. It was so scary. I was able to feel my way out of the shower and sit on the toilet seat...but it was about 5 seconds before I got my vision back. Scared me!

I'm 13 and this just happened to me in the shower... I was washing my hair then I felt really faint and then my vision started to go all tunnelled then I burst out crying I fell over because my legs went numb and then about 2-3mins later I manage to get my self out of the bath and into my bedroom.. But it was so scarey I thought I was going too die :/

This happened to me this morning. I was already fighting a cold and I think the combination of being sick and dehydrated, the hot shower got me really dizzy.  I remember holding on to the shower walls and next thing I remember I woke up laying on my side in the tub. A very scary experience. I sat in the tub for a while then was able to get up again.

Thanks so much, I was just in the hot shower doing nothing but enjoying the heat & it just got dark so I put my head between my knees & 10 seconds later I regain my sight

This happened to be just this morning, I also felt like I was going to puke.  I have recently suffered a neck injury, could this be a factor as well?
