Yes you lose taste buds, but not all of them,what type burn are you talking about,if your tongue is coated because of stomach or other illness you can lose taste buds but a burn would have to be almost the entire tougue but the tip burned from hot food or drink yes you lose taste buds right in that area hope this helps you to a degree good luck
