There is fluid restriction in chf because, in chf the heart is not able to pump blood with the same efficacy as it normally would & increase in the water intake wil inturn cause an increase in the blood volume which may lead to the overworking of the heart and cause complications like recurrent chf,pulmonary edema etc......hence fluid should be restricted in chf.
