What is too much? If you look at the World Health Organisation guide lines, safe drinking for women is limited to 2-3 drinks/day to a maximum of 14 per week but if your wife has developed a dependency on alcohol she is unlikely to accept that and will most likely deny that she has a problem.

If you feel that her drinking is getting out of control, rather than trying to “prove it” you need to look at her behavior and see how it is affecting your relationship and address that rather than trying to convince her that she is drinking  too much.

Trying to prove it is unlikely to change things and you will probably end up getting into arguments and “the blame game” none of which is helpful in any way.

Pick a time when she is sober or better still when she is suffering from the effects of her drinking and start getting some open and honest communication going about your concerns. Be straight and be sure to come from a place of love rather than a place of accusation. If she is drinking too much she is the only one that can change things. You can't fix her or save her, she needs to take responsibility for her actions and either stop of her own free will or get professional help but she's probably not ready yet.

I wish you well.
