To get a fever artificially, I guess you could go to what causes fevers in the first place: An infection.

A viral or bacterial infection is like a microscopic attack on your body, and the raised temperature is a result of our body trying to fight back.

However, getting an infection on purpose is very dangerous because what if your body struggles to fight back? This could mean serious illness or even death!

Instead, it's much safer to "mimic" the symptoms of a high fever artificially. Here are some ways you can do that:

How to get a high fever artificially

One way that your body heats up is through physical activity. If you do something vigorous and fast-paced, then your temperature should go sky high for a short period of time.

For example, running on the spot or doing sit-ups or pushups.

It's important to remember to drink water even if you're trying to recreate fever conditions. Remember, you don't want to do serious damage because that would be silly.

How to make it look like you have a fever

Once you're sweating and hot from doing physical activity, wrap up in warm clothes so the heat gets trapped.

Your heart rate and panting or heavy breathing might go down, but it'll be a long time till your temperature does. This will recreate fever conditions perfectly!

Having a high temperature is only one part of replicating fever symptoms. Here's the other things you need to know:

  • You need to look tired or worn out
  • Your mouth should be quite dry
  • You should shiver or feel cold (even though your skin is hot to touch)
  • Having to use the toilet often or throwing up is another sign of a more serious fever
