Maybe a couple of good friends. Or even people who just message me on Facebook or on here.  It would make me completely sad and somewhat depressed not having any association period.

No, however, many people believe that friends enhance their happiness as they have someone to share it with.

I believe that if you cannot be content and happy with yourself, then you will make a poor companion for someone else, as you will be forever relying on someone else.

No, some people are more independent than others and may only need their family to keep them happy. But as far as having pretty much no one, I don't think it's possible for that person to be truly happy, just because one of the main essentials of life is feeling a sense of belonging.

I disagree actually now that I think of it. There are certain situations in life where I find myself alone, partly due to introversion, another due to just not having much in common with a lot of people. I've pretty much figured out happiness is something from within. I just asked this question to see what others think.

It depends on you, some people love to surround themselves with friends, myself included, but others prefer to go through life without the company of friends.

You don't need a lot, just some. At least someone you can go do stuff with. Whether it be trying out a new restaurant, hiking a trail, or watching a movie in the theatres. I mean you can do those things alone. But afterwhile it would get pretty lonely.

For me, dinner conversations are the best. But who do you talk to if you're alone? Eating dinner at a restaurant silently.
