How does dishonesty affect a person's character?

Dishonesty makes a person work hard. Lies are to a person's character as cardio is to the body.

Personally, I'm too lazy and disinterested to lie to anybody. It's just not worth the effort of trying of trying to keep track of the lie.

Case in point. A nasty, unpleasant guy named Dorian Gray always looked young and handsome, but his portrait, thanks to Lucifer's intervention, grew uglier and more evil-looking every day.

I know that sort of thing can happen because I have a selfie that gets younger every time I answer a question like this. >:-/
