Do you think there are energy centers called CHAKRAS along the human spinal column, as in Traditional Chinese Medicine? And if so, do you have any personal experience with your own chakra system?

Disclosure: I am biased here because I am already convinced the chakra system is authentic, but am interested in learning the experience/opinions of others...

A personal experience.

For a couple of years, back about the turn of the century, I presented the breakfast show on a community radio station. One morning the next presenter had two aboriginal guests who had come to talk about their culture and who had also brought along a didgeridoo. I asked if I could stay.

As the man played I felt a remarkably strong vibration in my solar plexus, said to be the location of the Manipura chakra.

When we went to a commercial break I said to the man, "You have no idea where that music hit me." He grinned, reached across to touch my solar plexus, and said, "It hit you right there."

He knew.

That man had an uncanny ability and he was the model for Johnno in my novel. He also made me a shield like those Johnno gave his friends. It's hanging on the wall in front of my laptop. Virginia, you can actually feel the energy from it. I'll add a picture of it below.

The two aspects of the physical realm that I like the most are its infinite complexity and absolute simplicity.  (Imagine how wondrous the supernatural must be.)

The material object (what we look at) is creation, the formal objects (the tools we use to look) are many.  (I just can't understand why some people think philosophy is useless---it teaches one how to think.)

Almost every way we have of looking at things seems to give us more insight into what wonders they contain.

So, yes, but I admit I only have "acquaintance level" knowledge of the subject.

Dear Tom, your wide-open way of seeing/experiencing creation is the perspective to which I aspire.

You're well on your way, Virginia. If sexual intercourse between husband and wife is the greatest physical pleasure, the openness to all that exists is one of the greatest of the intellectual pleasures.

We are both spiritual and physical beings. Various saints over the years were seen to have a spiritual experience for an extended period of time (days) and be seen to suffer none of the results usually associated with lack of food or water.

Intellectual pleasures have the potential to be greater than any physical pleasure---Quite consistent with the reality that the intellect and the will are faculties of the soul.

I totally  believe in energy fields .. Especially in the body.  Every living entity has it. The chineese do have thousands of years of understanding about it and how it works.

It can even be measured scientifically .. So it is not just a philosophy but a real science.

I believe that Bioelectric energy travels along our nerve endings with the Human spine being the largest gathering of such energy second only to the human brain. I believe that these can be manipulated much like a regular electric energy field. I KNOW that by manipulating with targeting certain areas in the brain we have been capable of stopping tremors associated with Parkinson's disease.

I do not believe in any spirit metaphysical energy and it's flow or interruption.

So much of our medical "Fixes" in the brain require electric impulses to "Light up" and neural cluster that was otherwise dead . . . to me, this speaks volumes that it IS the natural Physical and not the Metaphysical and Supernatural that at work here.

If this were the case . . . the metaphysical would work despite the lack of physical connections needed, yet we KNOW that trauma done to specific parts of the brain can do more then just damage a person's ability to move about normally . . it can alter their ENTIRE personality, and character . . . We have so many recorded instances of this, and yet the Metaphysical provides no "Fix" or "Repair" . . . no soul to attach to have the person be unchanged in personality or character . . . they can be a different person . . they can lose memory and love for a spouse, or even their own child . . . They can have a part of the brain removed that acts as a Social Filter, for simply doing Everything they may have an impulse to do . . .
The next decade will be extremely revealing for the human brain.

Your comment makes me think of the devastating effects of Alzheimer's, and Nancy Reagan's poignant comment, "He went where I could not reach him;" something she clearly never believed would/could ever happen...

Understanding our brain truly a powerful horizon for humankind.

As I understand Chakras are what Kundalini is about, you allign the chakras in order to push the Kundalini (sleeping serpent) up the spine, using activities such as mediating, chanting, Kabbalah, sex magic or yoga. Yoga means to yoke or join with, and since these teachings appear to go back to at least Egypt, I'm wondering what you are yoking or joining with?

The Gnostics believed that the serpent was a hero in freeing  man kind from the demiurge of the Old Testament. However, the Bible states that the serpent tricked mankind into a fallen a state led by the ego.  Of course this is all esoteric knowledge not literal in its intent. That said it is a hidden teaching and I cannot see why it would be made known to the public now. I'm wary of New Age material.

Seen in Ancient Egypt

Osiris with Crook and Flail just like the Chi-Rho (the letters Tav Resh in hebrew).

Ptah's/Osiris Djed was thought to be the spine, also related in the story to a tree, since Osiris ended up buried in a tree. Raising the djed was seen as Osiris victory over Set, however this again is probably esoteric.

Some even say that the menorah is a symbol of the chakras.

There has been experiments on music on plants and how they react to certain vibrations. Some will say that the vibration in our current music is to keep us at a certain level and so not in a healthy manner, often over stimulating the sacral Chakra resulting in an over sexed society.

Nickola Tesla believed in the vibration as the creation of the universe.

Dear Pepper Pot, these are some fascinating associations you have shown...

My interest began because of the medical associations, the caduceus you posted. You suggest the correlation with the Hebrew sephiroth...amazing...

You have touched on a great deal of information, correlations across the world and over time, and it is intriguing...I did not know about the belief of Tesla...
And I did not realize that knowledge was in Ancient Egypt, had just never thought of it...but it makes sense...

Thank you.

You're welcome Virginia, just something I've been interested in since I was young. I was always asking questions looking for answers, and thankfully not the only one.
