I have a 1 to 2 inch sebaceous cyst on my head and want to get it removed. What is the best procedure and how long will the recovery be. Will I have a big hole in my head or a bald spot?

I had a sebaceous cyst removed from my armpit two weeks ago.  If they do it properly (remove the entire cyst), it leaves a hole underneath your skin.  The hole is packed with gauze, to keep the surface incision open while the inside heals and to allow drainage.  The packing is then covered with a bandage.  (If they do not pack it, the surface may heal first, leaving all the draining gunk inside, and it will form another cyst.)  Every two days, I have to go back to the nurse and have the packing removed and new packing put in (this part hurts).  It's been two weeks now, and they think that I will only need one more packing done.  They said once it is healed, it shouldn't leave a scar.  The incision itself is very narrow.

Hi I have the same done on my back. It was a golf ball size and was removed with local anaesthetic. I am at the doctors every 2 days but was every day for 3 weeks. I am 5 weeks in now and it is still a hole in my back and I am now back on antibiotics. It is becoming ridiculous now
