Cyberphobia is the fear of computers and working on computers. It also comes under the bracket of technophobia, which is a more general term used to describe a phobia regarding technology of other kind, but also including computers.
The latter is often more commonly used.
CyberphobiaWe often think of our fears as things which we rarely experience, or which might do us harm. In this modern age where computers are so common place, it might be hard to imagine how a person might fear computers, as they are simply a part of everyday life in the western world.
But, cyberphobia is as real as any phobia, and it should be taken seriously. People who have cyberphobia, or technophobia, often fear computer technology not simply because of the appearance of computers, but also for what it represents.
Many people living with the phobia fear computers because of threat of surveillance, or because of their increasing prevalence and intrusion into our everyday lives. Many people fear that the advancement of computers is dangerous, and you only have to watch The Matrix to get a glimpse of why!
