Fetal kidney starts making urine after 10-12 weeks of pregnancy. Sometimes, obstruction in the urine can cause swelling in the ureters or kidneys. This is diagnosed through ultrasound. Treatment of this condition during pregnancy is usually not needed. But can be done by a procedure called prenatal shunt. This swelling in kidneys is usually self treated before birth or after delivery. If conditions are sever then can be operated after birth.

How far along are you? Don't worry until your Dr. Tells you what to expect sometimes unborn problems correct themselves,or they can fix things while the baby is still in the womb...the best of luck to you and baby, hope all goes well......

I think that if you listen to your doctor, and take very good care of yourself, you two will be o.k. There are really too many reasons for this to happen with your baby, and I really hope that all turns out for the best for you. You should talk to your doctor about this further too, and see if you can't find out why this happened. Hope this helps, good luck to you.

I don't understand why are you asking this question. If you are having a child shouldn't you be asking that question to your doc. And if you know that your unborn baby has a swollen kidney didn't the doc. Tell you right there and then what that means.
