There are masses of ways in which different physical and mental health issues can affect your success and performance at work. Here is a selection of potential physical and mental health issues that could affect your work success:

• Lack of sleep/exhaustion

This is one issue that is often overlooked in regards of work performance. If you happen to miss out on sleep by either staying up too late or getting up too early, you will start to notice a change in your performance at work. You need to make sure that you get at least 8 hours sleep a night. To get yourself into a good, set sleeping pattern, try to get into bed at the same time every night to set your brain into a routine.

• Depression

This is an obvious issue for someone trying to succeed in their career. If they have suffered a number of setbacks, or if they have had problems outside of work, people can end up being diagnosed with depression. This can really ruin work performance to the extent that they may not even turn up to work due to the apathy that comes with depression. When in work, those who are depressed may be distracted and disinterested anyway, so this can be terrible for work.

• Injury or physical handicap

Although many companies and businesses cater for those who have mobility issues, you need to make sure that the company that you wish to work for. You need to be able to make sure that you can move around the premises in a wheelchair if you are in such a position, or you may have more difficulty than is necessary in your work.
