Skin tags are generally caused by being overweight or because of genetics.

There's no telling for sure whether you will get skin tags, but I wouldn't worry as they aren't too dangerous.

Like I said, some people are more likely to get tags:
People suffering from diabetes and pregnant women are considered "high risk".

Overall, skin tags are not a big issue because they are not cancerous tumors - more like growths that can easily be removed.

Noone really knows what causes skin tags, that's what my doctor told me.

Some people are born with them, some people get them as they get older. The main thing is to keep an eye on skin tags as if there is any change in size of them, then it could be turning into a tumor which will need removing asap!

Friction, skin tags develop in the folds of the body, such as armpits and under the breasts. The friction causes the tissue to flap over, creating a small stalk that protrudes from the skin.

Age, as older people are more likely to have sagging skin where friction can occur.

Obesity, excessive folds of skin can cause friction to occur.

Tight Clothing, can cause friction on the skin.

Diabetes, again due to being overweight overlapping skin can cause friction.

Skin Disease, can cause a change in pigment and a flapping of the skin.

Skin tags are mainly harmless, but if they become a problem with bleeding then they can be easily removed.
