I had the same thing that was so bad it was causing me to become dizzy and go into anxiety attacks. The only thing the eye doctor told me is to let time take it's course and it will go away on it's own - or they refer you to a neurologist who studies these things with twitching of the eye..
I usually get those darn things when I'm tired or stressed. I have heard that a vitamin deficiency can also cause them. I usally use a warm compress on my eye whenever I get them. You can also use over the counter antihistamine eye drops.
