The biggest factor for any of it is peer pressure and causes teens to do just about anything or at least to try something once but then there are always the Macho guys who think they are invincible and for self satisfaction, will try anything no matter how dangerous but are the ones most teens want to be like. 

I know as I was one of those guys once upon a time.
