How could it be otherwise, Otis? For most of us it's a roller coaster ride. But even when life hits the bottom, it's still a lot better for most of us than for people who live in, say, Africa or the Middle East.
To better appreciate the times that are good.
Congrats on your almost 17-year sobriety anniversary, Otis. What an accomplishment!
In regards to your question, sometimes it seems that the good guys seem to struggle so much just to keep things together, while you see other people getting food stamps, free housing, medical care, etc. Sometimes, it takes all you've got just to survive. Your struggles are not in vain.
It takes a lot of gumption to maintain your sobriety when things are not going well. If you've got a specific need that someone can help with, let us know. You never know what kind of response you will get until you ask. Keep your chin up - it does get better!
I won't go into any real detail but I have had some very difficult and challenging times over the last 12 to 15 years. One thing I can tell you is that if you don't go through the bad times in life then you will never appreciate the good times in life. I strongly believe that everything in life happens for a reason. At the time it may not feel good and you may feel quite down but if something bad happens if they just said look at the positives that you didn't take out of your situation.
Hi O!
I read a quote the other day.
" so far you have survived 100% of your worst days. You're doing great!" 😊
Life can definitely be difficult, no doubt....you Otis, are a testament to what people are capable of, congratulations on 17 years sober, that in and of itself is quite the accomplishment. You can definitely talk to us here, we are all here for you when you are troubled and just need a pick me up!
life isn't fair.
