One should not take Benadryl Allergy and Cold medication if one has high blood pressure, glaucoma, thyroid disease, diabetes, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, cough with excessive phlegm, or a cough that occurs as a result of smoking, asthma, or emphysema. People who are pregnant or breast feeding should also ask a doctor before taking this medication. It is also recommended that this medication not be taken while drinking alcohol because it could cause severe liver damages or other problems.

Benadryl has an antihistimine in it which will make you tired, I would suggest using that at night time and finding a day time medicine that has a decongestine in it like sudapendrine in it.
