Lasix is the brand name for Furosemide. It is considered a loop diuretic that helps with congestive heart failure and edema. It is used most often in thoroughbred and standard bred horses to stop nose bleeds during races. It is also considered a doping drug and is illegal to use while in sports.

Medically, this drug is used for hypertension and edema. It is basically meant to stop congestive heart failure. It means that Lasix can lower blood pressure to help prevent heart disorders. It is meant to alleviate arterial blood pressure which can cause hypertension if blood pressure reaches certain levels.

Some studies have been conducted with hot water and blood pressure. These studies have shown that hot water can lower blood pressure after a sustained period of time. In other words, initial exposure will cause the blood pressure to rise and then it will lower as there is prolonged exposure. To keep the blood pressure lower, one has to be in the hot water for a long period of time and not get out to keep it lowered. It is not a drug that actually lowers the blood pressure consistently and constantly.

Alcohol is dangerous for blood pressure. Alcohol is definitely a leading factor in raising blood pressure. Those who drink excessively will almost certainly have high blood pressure over time. Even one alcoholic beverage can cause a person's blood pressure to rise.

This is because of what alcohol does to the body over time. The odd drink every once in a while will not affect your blood pressure permanently; it will just increase it while the alcohol is in your system. Depending on how often and how much you drink, alcohol can decrease blood pressure if the act of drinking is associated with a leisurely activity such as relaxing with a glass of wine at the end of the day, but, even with minimal amounts of alcohol, the effects are temporary.

Long term alcohol use will increase blood pressure and can lead to damage in other areas of the body.
