Vertigo is a balance disorder in which affected person have sensation of spinning while the body is actually stationary with respect to the surroundings. It can cause nausea, vomiting and difficulties with standing and walking. Its major causes are inflammation of inner ear due to bacterial and viral infection, Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo which causes feeling of sensation of motion duo to sudden head movements or moving head in a certain directions, decreased blood flow to base of brain, Acoustic neuroma, Migraine,  multiple sclerosis and Head trauma.
Treatment of vertigo depends upon underlying cause. Headache is associated with vertigo due to reduced blood supply to the base of brain. So, I can not tell you recovery time of vertigo as you have not pointed out the type of vertigo and treatment which you are having.
