It really depends on whether you are suffering from any pain or not. If you are not experiencing pain, then a hiatal hernia does not usually require treatment and is left to go away on its own.

However, if you are experiencing pain in the chest or stomach/abdomen or symptoms of nauseousness, vomiting, unable to have a bowel movement or pass wind, your hernia maybe strangulated or have some sort of obstruction. If this is the case, you should contact your doctor immediately.
