You could do this a few ways: Easy way would be to keep the mass of the tablets you use the same and dissolve them in say 250mls of water (this is now your base). Measure out 10mls of acid and place in beaker. Add 10 mls of your base solution to the acid. Then using universal indicator paper see which gets the solution closest to pH 7 whichever is closest is the best. Other way is by using pipettes and burettes and seeing how much acid has to be added to the base to neutralise it. The one that uses less acid to neutralise the base is the best. Hope that helps

You have to find out all about stomach acid what it is and its effects etc then you gta look up the remedies and then test them. Not 100% sure how to test them but its pretty much the same procedure as the experiment titrating sodium hydroxide with hydrochloric acid thats the basis but you have to also find out how to make a solution of a base for when you test with the indicators that experiment is in the H.L leaving cert chemistry bookS! An indicator would help find the correct amount to use..

We are titrating the acid against the different bases, so our result will be how much acid it takes to neutralise the base.
The alka seltzer didnt work using the recommended dose on the pack...it turned out it only needed 2 mls and they didnt really see a colour change, we got this result from using insicator paper, so to make it easier for the pupils to see we concentrated the solution using more tablets in less water (they came up with this idea themselves) and we got a value of 11.5 mls acid needed.
Andrews salts hasn't worked so we are thinking of breaking up the chewable tabs with a mortar and pestle and dissolving them the same as the dissolvable ones! Its trial and error from here I have to say.

I think you would just use diluted hydrochloric acid to act as stomach acid, go to Boots and pick up different indigestion remedies and put one in. Another basin of hydrochloric acid, another type of indigestion remedy, and so on then just measure which has the least acid at the end using universal indicator paper. :-D
