Recovery time for cellulitis infection depends on severity of infection. Mild and moderate cases of disease that requires treatment with oral antibiotics at home usually lasts 10-14 days. Serious cases with treatment in hospital requires much more time (till one month). Cases with return of infection can last up to couple of months unfortunately.

I'm going through it now!

I noticed symptoms about 8 days ago, had it diagnosed by a doctor 5 days ago (who prescribed anit-biotics), and had it seen to a second time 2 days ago after it blistered and burst (very messy!).  At the second visit to the GP, she gave me an (huge) injections of anti-biotics, and told me to continue taking them orally as before.

It's now two days on from in injections, and I can't say it's too much better.  While I feel fine in my body, there is still a whole lot of pus coming out, and it looks nasty.

But given the other responses have had people hospitalised, I'm not not too upset.  I've got a further week on the oral anti-biotics, so I'm guessing another week from now?  Good luck!

It depend on the severity, I caught mine 2 days after it started..hospitalized for 4 days..home now for 3 days..and doctor says a few more days to go. ....so lets day 9-12 days when you catch it early. Its a serious infection.

My husband is recovering from cellulitis.  He was hospitalized for 8 days on IV antibiotics and has completed a ten day regimen of oral antibiotics at home.  Is it safe for him to be on the beach and at the pool?
