Lumpectomy is the surgical removal of a lump and its surrounding tissues from breast.  This lump can be benign or malignant. Lumpectomy is less invasive procedure and recovery time depends upon size of the tissue removed and  patient health. Usually, it take 3-4 weeks to recover if lymph nodes are not removed. But it can take several weeks in some patients. After the lumpectomy, radiation therapy is recommended if the tissues found to be cancerous. During this recovery period, activities of bouncing movements like  running and lifting weights are not allowed.
