Normal heart rate of adult is 70 beats per minutes but in infants it is 130 which is higher than adults. This is due to the fact that infant's body is growing rapidly and their body metabolism is high which needs more oxygen and to get ride of CO2 from the body quickly. This is achieved by increase in heart rate. That is why heart rate of infants is higher than adult.
