For me it's social occasions. If I'm forced to attend one I usually end up sitting in the corner on my own and counting the hours until I can escape.

Fortunately I'm pretty deaf these days and most people who know me assume that I'm not joining in the conversation because I can't hear them -- which, of course, is partly true. But mainly it's because I'm an old curmudgeon.

It's the real me, Happy. I avoid 'em whenever I can -- which is most times.

I know the feeling, Avatar. We may be a minority, but a lot of people feel the same way.

I suppose if I was still a drinking man I could get tanked and let the evening pass me by. :)

I am afraid of the pop of a pressurized can. So if I need some crescent rolls, hubby takes a spoon to it in another room. I'm okay with a can of soda, it's just those weird cans of crescent rolls, biscuits or whatever pops when you take the paper off. It's just not right.

Cotton batting in pill or vitamin bottles. Can't stand the feel of it coming out of the bottle especially when it starts shredding as it comes out. I break out in goosebumps/shivers coursing throughout my body.

Ewww...just... Ewww!!!

I have to ask someone else to remove it for me well out of my line of sight.

Ewww...I'm sure its silent but I can almost hear the squeaky shred of the cotton as it comes out of the bottle stuck on the glued security thingy.

STOP Refreshme! My blood is running cold. You're right though, that sound is the worst. I don't think it's cotton, I believe it's something alive and the sound is it's screaming while being squeezed out of the bottle.

When I was a kid, I was scared that a snake, rat or some other animal would get me while sitting on the seat in my grandma's outhouse.

When I was a kid, I was afraid to change the tv channel when Scooby Doo was on...course back then, you had to actually turn the knob on the tv to change the channel and I was afraid of the spooks!

I'm really paranoid about tiny dots or spots. I hate them! They make me want to scratch them all out or rip them all out. Anytime I see something with super small dots, I can't do anything until are either out of my sight or have been destroyed. It's kind of silly but I absolutely cannot stand them.
