Diabetes Mellitus or Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases including Type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes (which occurs in pregnant women) There is also prediabetes, where you are on the verge of developing it. My father has type 2 as do both my brothers. I have been diagnosed with prediabetes. I get tested twice a year by my Primary Care Physician. I try to eat as healthy as i can, I exercise five days a week to keep me in my ideal weight range and I try to limit stress in my life whenever possible.
All standard of diabetes mellitus have something in common. Glucose fuels the body cells. But the cells need insulin, a hormone in the blood, in order to take into glucose and used for energy. In diabetes mellitus, either your body does not produce enough insulin, can not use the insulin it produces, or a combination of both.
Diabetes mellitus (or diabetes) is a chronic, lifelong condition that affects your body's ability to use the energy found in food.
Diabetes can be controlled if one follows a good diet. Lose weight if need to, stay away too many carb.. If your fasting blood sugar is 125 I hear that's start of pre-diabetes. At this stage the doctors may put you on a medication such as Metformin, Atos, etc.. If you can get it under control with just pills and diet than you're doing good. Iif t can't than you may need insulin injections such as Lantus, Humalog .
