Why Does Milk Come Out Of My Breast If I Am Not Pregnant And Never Had Been? It Comes Out All The Time Not Only Around My Period. Is This Bad Because Someone Told Me It Could Be A Symptom Of Breast Cancer?

Draining what looks like milk from your breasts is NOT a sign of breast cancer. Sometimes womens hormones play a big role in this. However, I would discuss this with your GYN because you need to make sure and don't worry I don't believe its anything real serious.

I would not take a chance on this at all. I had drainage from my nipple (it was clear) but it turned out to be Paget's disease of the nipple. I am scheduled for a mastectomy the 16th of april. I had no changes in my mammogram and had to insist on seeing a surgeon. He took a biopsy and it is cancer. You MUST be an advocate in your own health care. If I wasn't I would be probably be dead in a few years or even earlier. I haven't found out how far mine has spread (praying it hasn't) but NEVER NEVER look at nipple drainage as normal.

You have not mentioned that what are your prolactin levels? Normal levels can be 2-20. For milk production, higher than this levels of prolactin are required. Some ladies can produce milk if they are sensitive to upper normal levels of prolactin. This can be your case. Depression, sexual excitement and tumors in pituitary gland can cause increase in prolactin levels leading to milk production. You should be investigated by gynecologist to know exact cause of your problem. You can use medicines like bromocriptine or lisuride to stop milk production but after discussing with doctor.

If milk is coming out of your breast without pregnancy or lactation periods then you might be having high levels of a hormone called prolactin. This hormone is produced by the anterior pituitary gland. Stress, suckling stimulus by baby or during sex and tumors in the pituitary glands can cause this condition. You should visit a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
