The chemical name of LSD is Lysergic acid diethylamide and is more commonly known as "acid". It's effects on human brain include several psychedelic effects like:
  1. Hallucinations involving visual patterns and fractals.
  2. sense of time dilation.
  3. Euphoria and elation.
The drug was quite popular in the 70s psychedelic movement and was commonly used by transcendentalists, occultists and psychonauts. It was also used for therapeutic purposes, though it's use legally is banned now. It is also used by militants and armies. Long term abuse causes dependence on the drug and leads to withdrawal symptoms if the abuser stops consuming it. It strips the abuser of inner fears leading them to take undaunted risks and exposes himself to dangers unthinkingly, it severely compromises rational judgement.

New Age religions lol....

Occultist and psychonaut here. I've recently graduated university and I am going on to master psychology and philosophy of the mind. My entire life is Mind/Body dilemma - which refers to understanding how the mind works in conjunction with sensory input.
Neurolinguistics is one of my other favorite mindful topics.

Be smart about it. It is not necessarily an evil.

Only if you have a traumatic experience or if you are at risk to psychological disorders. If you are happy that day, and cleared your schedule for 24 hours, and are in a pleasant environment. Go for it!

LSD like any drug can cause problems with your brain but LSD has the worst affects with the fact acid will be contained in your spinal fluid which means at anytime a user can have a "flashback" where the acid will escape from the pouch of spinal fluid it is in and give the user (after one week or 30 years) a high.
