Another wives tale is that it's meant to indicate wealth, or future wealth. It's known as Morton's syndrome.
When the second toe is believed to be larger than the big toe it is believed that the person will be of the dominating type. It is believed to be a sign of a psychological trait. It is not certain whether or not there is any scientific basis for this. People however do believe in this or at least believe the theory to have some weight based on personal experiences. This belief stems from the fact that it has been observed in married couples where a spouse who has a larger second digit in the foot related to their big toe is generally more dominating. It is seen to be the case in both males and females. A dominating person will be more aggressive and will force ones will on the other.
