This is completely normal. In fact, this is often called the "capsule" as our body "encapsulates" and keeps separate the exudate or pus. Good job. Keep it clean and dry during the day and warm, moist soaks with help it drain.
Good morning Jessika!
Tiggersmom is right keeping the area around the boil clean is of the utmost importance.
Having been through something like this I would also suggest that you see your dermatologist to find out what this is all about.
After years of never having had acne I had my first 'attack' of cystic acne when I was 18. I woke up one morning to 8 boils – 4 on each side of my nose. Those boils were bright red, hurt like heck and itched like crazy.
Those cysts usually took more than a week to 'pop' and usually did so at the most inopportune times! I also had a few cysts that were really challenging and had to be surgically excised.
After you see your dermatologist please be sure to let me know what you find out. Talk to you soon!

Not to worry, that's completely normal. Be sure to keep it clean and steril. Mix of covering it and letting it air dry are very helpful to the healing process.
That's fine, make sure you clean it up, and the area around it, apply a salve and bandage it, keep clean. Hope this helps you.
