Yes, you can but they say it is quite rare and often a result of low immune system. When I was 10 I ended up in hospital with a painful breakout on my arm that lasted 3 months and then a few years later on the opposite side of my body on the trunk. Both were tested and confirmed as shingles by taking a swab of the blister fluid. Now, whenever I have a stressful week, I get a strong, reoccuring pain in my arm (post herpartic neuralgia?). If you catch the virus early, usually before the blisters appear, you may be able to recieve treatment and, in turn, reduce the chance of post herpartic neuralgia.
