Can I Fly With A Badly Bruised Leg?

May not be a good idea because with the increased blood flow to the bruised leg, you also increase your risk of a blood clot, or DVT (deep vein thrombosis) from prolonged sitting such as on an airplane. Ask a doctor before flying they may say okay if it is a shorter flight but it is not worth the risk unless the trip is extremely necessary. How did you injure your leg and are you sure it is not broken??

Thanks Derybur - definitely not broken - can walk, stand on the one bruised leg, wiggle toes, bend knee. Stretch etc. Just shin was hit very hard and is quite swollen at the moment. This happened yesterday (Sun). Flight is on Friday this week.

If you haven't seen a doctor just be very aware of your circulation in the affected leg. The immobility during the flight will be your biggest problem so maybe walk around cabin more frequently when allowed. Hope you feel better, the shin is so sensitive and hurts a lot, too!!! Good Luck!!
