I was 9 weeks pregnant. Doctor said tat aminotic band was formmed so the baby's heart beat stopped. I want to know the reasons 1. Why the band formed.2. Is this affect my next pregnancy.
Amniotic Band syndrome is otherwise known as Amnion Rupture sequence, and it is quite uncommon. It starts when the Amnion, which is the inner membrane or the placental structure, breaks and it exposes the foetus to fibrous bands. These bands then wrap around the foetus and in some cases it can even cause the baby to die, and limbs can become amputated, though usually it simply just causes a line to form around the baby's limb wherever the band was.
The cause of the condition is as of yet unknown, though it is thought that it occurs mainly at around twelve weeks of pregnancy. If you have a baby that is born with this condition, it is unlikely that if you fall pregnant again, the same thing will happen. It has just as much chance of happening again, as if you had not given birth to a baby affected by the condition.
