According to the National Osteoporosis Society, one of two women and one in five men over the age of fifty will break a bone because of the disease. That's 50% women and 20% men who will likely suffer due to osteoporosis. It affects 3 million people in the UK and every 3 minutes there will be 1 person who will suffer a fracture due to osteoporosis.

People more at risk are:
1). Having a family history of osteoporosis.
2). Smoke or drink alcohol excessively
3). Post menopause women
4). Have a problem of thyroid or have been taking hormonal medicine
5). Not enough of vitamin D and calcium in ones diet
6). Inactive lifestyle

20 % of older people with hip fractures die within the same year of the fracture. According to the Welsh Osteoporosis Advisory Group, 7% of people with a hip fracture pass away in the hospital in 30 days in Wales alone.
