I agree with Toohumble.
If you are taking meds and feeling the way you do, then they are not working for you. Sometimes I think we have been so saturated by the pharmaceutical companies that we rely too much on medications. I am not saying that all medications are bad. Certainly there are some that help our bodies to heal. What I am saying is, maybe you need to try getting out in the world and busy yourself with things that you enjoy. Life is what we make it. Sometimes depression can be overcome by mind over matter.
Ask yourself what is making you depressed. If you know the answer to that question, then it is most likely not a chemical imbalance in the brain. Life is what we make of it and the attitude we take toward making our lives better. You can't depend on a pill or someone to make you happy. You have to make yourself happy.
Sometimes, this is not an easy thing to do, but no one can do it for us.
One more very important thing. NEVER stop taking any medication abruptly. Always consult your doctor for advice on weaning yourself off the medication.

So what is your question? Is it ok to feel that way on medication? That is usually a side affect to using pharmy-meds. I say unless these meds are helping keep you alive, you should prevent using them. At least long enough for you to make a good choice about what you are feeling and why.

Abruptly stopping meds can lead to terrible side-affects such has hallucinations, stroke or heart attack.
Oops, I just realized I left this under your answer, Toohumble. Meant to put it under mine. Oh well, suppose she got it anyway.

There are many of us on these boards that are looking for a 'lifeline' to the outside world, continually searching for a purpose, recognition, acceptance...sadly the internet is not it.  It's the exact opposite....impersonal, distant, with very little personal cost or consequence.  Medication is no substitute for therapy, for human contact, for friends or loved ones.  Of course you can't just quit taking them....but what you need is trained professionals that can listen to you and understand...not some internet troll who will find your weaknesses and maybe take advantage of that.

I feel depressed almost all the time. I used to have more highs, in between the depression, but they have become less frequent as I have aged. I am obsessive, compulsive, and also suffer from anxiety attacks. I do take meds for OCD, but I feel they don't really help, and every time my dose is increased, I feel more screwed up. Then I level off again, and my psychiatrist pushes for a higher dosage. I am taking clomipramine. I basically go out of the house to do what needs to be done. I try to be pleasant, but I am withdrawing from everything. I used to take dance classes, and now I have stopped. I went to church, now I don't! Basically, I go to the grocery store, pay bills, and go to my many doctor's appointments. Why am I alive??? I am a 54 year old divorced female, recovering alcoholic, and drug addict. Well any ideas...I'd love to talk to someone. Thanks.
