Your liver is on the right side of your body, but the symptoms you describe don't seem to be related to the liver. Common symptoms of liver disease are usually yellowing of the skin and around the white of the eyes, darkened urine, and weight loss. I don't know if you have any other medical conditions or are taking medication, but what you describe could be as simple as water retention. The swelling and the weight gain could indicate something like that. I gained 70 pounds in about two months last year, and it was all water. In any event, you must see a doctor. If it is something serious, putting off a visit to a doctor could make matters worse, and if it's not serious, I'm sure you want to take care of the problem. Good luck.

There could be many reasons, but was there a real reason you feared it might be liver trouble?

Go to a doctor its better to find out to reassure yourself than to sit at home and just fear the worst. As most of us will do, including myself at times.

So what was causing you to retain that much water in your body?

What was causing you to retain water like that ? That would be 35 lbs a month and that seems like alot of water weight...but hey I've gained 20 lbs in 2 months and they can't find a cause for it either.
