10. Pneumonia can lead to serious illness because it is a respiratory infection. When it is going on in your lungs, it can bring liquid into them; this can set your body up for failure (because liquids aren't supposed to be in the lungs.) This lowers the body’s ability to heal itself and to recover from other illnesses and this allows other illnesses to attack your body.
