Whilst Pneumonia can usually be treated, it is still a very serious illness and in some cases it can even be fatal. The illness is basically an infection in the lungs in which the Air sacs are filled with pus and other liquid, making it extremely hard for the lungs to do their job. The Air Sacs are designed to help to take oxygen from the air, and to put it into the bloodstream.

Symptoms usually include a fever or chills, green coloured mucus which is coughed up, and chest pain. The people who are most at risk of developing pneumonia are the ones who are already quite ill. People with heart or kidney disease, and people with diabetes for example, are often most at risk of catching the illness.

It is important that if you notice any of the mentioned symptoms, you should immediately contact your doctor. They will then be able to start you on the best medication for you.
