Because to measure your maximum heart rate you do, 220-your age.. The older you are the lower you maximum heart rate is, therefore affecting your resting heart rate aswell, because if I was 80 years old, my max HR would be 240, standard resting heart rate is 60-80 BPM the closer that is to your max HR the more prone to heart attacks you would be.
