Is The Use Of 60 Milligrams Of Morphine A Day To Combat Chronic Pain Considered A Large Dosage For This Type Of Pain Medication?

60 ml isn't too bad. When I was having to take it for a pinched sciatic nerve, the dr. Upped mine to 60, 3 times per day.
It is very addictive though and you can't just stop taking it all at once. You have to be weaned off it.

I sure do know what you mean. If he has been taking it for years, that is something to be concerned about. It's so difficult to have to live in chronic pain 24/7 for the rest of your life. I couldn't deal with the addiction of the med, so made the choice to live with the pain. Couldn't take the med at night because I couldn't sleep. I'd wake up detoxing. Horrible experience. I haven't regretted my decision.

Forgot to tell you that what I was taking was a synthetic opiate based pain med. It may be different than morphine.

I have some sciatic nerve issues right now....if I took this at night, maybe I could sleep better??

Seems like quite a bit to take unless it is only on a short-term basis.  Otherwise, it seems like a person could get addicted very quickly.  There must be something else do combat chronic pain besides morphine.
