If you have blood pressure of 124/50 and a pulse of 53, is this any concern for a 66-year-old male?

Firstly, it's important to note that there's no real correlation between blood pressure and pulse rate, so it's good to think about them separately.

Blood Pressure

The blood pressure reading considered most healthy is 120/80 and as this chart shows, if either number is too far from the ideal reading, it's considered 'not healthy'.

The blood pressure you've given of 124/50 is on the turning point of pre-high blood pressure, or pre-hypertension.

Exercising for around 30 minutes a day can help lower your blood pressure, which includes dancing and brisk walking, not just gym workouts!

There are lots of things you can include in your diet which can help, such as:
- Fresh herbs
- Black beans
- Salmon
- Tuna
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Walnuts
- Almonds
- Tofu

Pulse Rate

A normal resting heart rate for adults is between 60-100. Anything lower tends to indicate efficient heart function and cardiovascular fitness.
