Is A Blood Pressure Of 120/90 Anything To Be Concerned With?

A blood pressure rate of 120/90 is considered to be slightly outside the normal range. While the systolic number (top number) of 120 is a good number, the diastolic (bottom number) reading of 90 is far too high.

In normal situations, the resting heart rate of a normal person should not be more than above 85 beats per minute. There are a number of underlying factors why your pressure could be this way; one of the main reasons is that you could be overweight. If you are eating too many fatty foods and not getting enough exercise then your heart will have to work harder to pump the blood round your system.

This means that any exertion such as walking or even running for a short space of time will drastically raise your heart rate and if you are overweight or have more body fat then it will take your body a greater amount of time to recover from even just slight exercise.

If you do feel your heart beating too fast could be down to stress and anxiety. Being under pressure due to work if you have deadlines to hit or are working late can put greater tension on the heart and cause a spike in your blood pressure.

If you feel for any way that you are suffering from any of these problems or symptoms then you should immediately consult your doctor. They can measure your blood pressure rate and suggest steps you can take to reduce your blood pressure.

A blood pressure of 120/90 is not "normal". The American Heart Association has changed their standards recently. Check out their website. The top number (systolic) of 120 is excellent, however, the bottom number (diastolic) of 90 is too high. This number is the pressure of your blood when the heart is at rest and should not consistently be above 85.

yes I agree, though it is the low range of high, it is at the very least a possible warning of a blood pressure/circulation problem, if it stays at that level. Take you BP often and if you keep getting a bottom number above 85, talk to your Dr. that is what I have been told.

Diastolic of 90 is a little high but it depends on what you've been doing!  I would keep an eye on it.

The bottom number is slightly high, but I suffer from anxiety and that raises the pressure a bit. Cut down a little on fatty foods and you'll be good to go. Provided no other symptoms, nothing to lose sleep over. My best non-medical opinion, of course.

You need to get that under control. At 26 you may need to lose a lot of weight. Eat vegetables, fruits, almond milk and whole grains. I do not eat any meat at all and I do not have high blood pressure. Whole grains, fruit, veggies, nuts. Leave the alcohol alone no mater what people say. Also exercise.
