Strep throat is due to infection of group A beta-hemolytic streptococcus. The antigen markers of the streptococcus toxin is similar to the markers of the heart, particularly the heart valves. So during infection, your antibodies do not just attack the streptococcus bacteria, it also attacks your heart valves, which will eventually damage your heart. This disorder is called Rheumatic Heart Disease or Rheumatic Fever.
For you not to develop RHD, make sure to be very diligent in taking the full course of antibiotics prescribed during any streptococcus infection.

YES. When I was a child, if you had a sore throat, one of the common treatments was a mustard plaster. They burned badly. I had strep throat and to avoid the plaster, told no one. The strep went to my heart and caused rhuematic fever and chorea. It left me with scar tissue in my heart valve. Anyone who sees spots in someones throat should get to a doctor asap. It is serious! It ruined my childhood. I am now 52 and have irreversable left systolic heart failure. My time will come sooner than I thought. I do not know whether the rhuematic fever was a factor.

In order to ease the discomfort you can also make use of throat lozenges in much less severe instances. It's also advisable to apply gargling the throat with warmer salty h2o as well as get herbals which get proved to be effective for sore throat as well as discomfort inside the strep throat. Use various pain-killer if the anguish is way too powerful, but it is the simplest to relax a lot as it's the ideal way to get back nicely quickly.
