Decubitus ulcers are areas of skin breakdown that are caused by continuous pressure on a specific area....most commonly found on the heels, coccyx, and buttocks, they can be found over any bony prominence. Generally decubitus ulcers are preventable by turning and repositioning to relieve pressure.....sometimes, they are not preventable, such a case would be someone who is not eating sufficient nutrients and protein. If these areas are treated properly, infection can be prevented and the areas heal.
Sadly, they are ulcers or bed sores on the hips that emits pus, fluid, and blood in which Paraplegics are predisposed to.
